Spring is in the air

Hi I hope you all enjoyed the Easter break.  Fortunately I have another day off so I'm really pretty chipper this morning.  None of the first day back blues for me today.  I'll get mine tomorrow when everyone else is back to normal.
Yesterday we went out for a long walk on the Chesterfield Canal.  We started off at Drakeholes and continued from the tunnel past bridge 75 and beyond to the second set of locks and then returned.  The weather was glorious but with a lovely breeze which just kept the heat bearable.  I did however get the tell tale red burn mark on my neck from not bothering to apply sun screen.  I am very fair and should know better.  I know I should know better because I am constantly being told by my darling husband that I should know better. I picked some wild garlic from beside the path.  I sliced it up and sprinkled it in a batter I used to coat some chicken for tea last night.  It has a very subtle flavour and was delicious.
Did anyone watch the Spring Watch Special last night? It was lovely to hear about all the birds returning from Africa and other far away places. I love that program and think that Chris is so funny.  I remember him from my younger days when he used to present The Really Wild Show.
They asked the question 'What do you associate with Spring' and my photos today are what remind me that Spring has sprung.

Enjoy your day x

My New Market Stall

Hi there and a Happy Easter to each and everyone of you.

I hope you are all well. My apologies for not blogging sooner but as you will see from my photograph we have been busy bees this week.

Yesterday was the first day of trading at the Worksop market and Steve and I had a wonderful time meeting our new customers and having a good old chin wag.

It has taken a lot of planning to get things just right but it was all worth it. We had a very successful day and I think everyone who stopped by were happy with what was on offer.

Over the next weeks I hope to expand my range. I can't wait until next Saturday and plan to bring a few extra colours with me. The baby wool was popular and at one stage I was worried that I hadn't brought enough but everything was fine.

Over the next couple of days I hope to get the tidy bag pattern on. It's finished now so I have no excuse.

Well I better go. So many Easter eggs, so little time! xx

Good Morning,

I thought I'd just drop you a line before I pop off to work.

My husband has just left and the house is lovely and quiet.

The sentiment on my mug sums up my feeling totally today as all I want to do is snuggle up with a good book or a spot of knitting. Nothing too taxing you understand.

Today will no doubt be another busy one but never mind it keeps me out of mischief.

I didn't get to watch the film on Sunday as I got distracted and ended up making cornflake buns. I took photos and will let you have a look soon.

The baby jacket is no further forward but I have nearly finished a knitted tidy bag. I got the idea from a magizine I think. It is knitted in squares, four round the sides and one for the base. The cuff is knitted later to form a bag. When it's finished I'll post the pattern so you can have ago yourselves.

Well that's it for now. Bye x

A New Era

Good Afternoon

Well finally I can tell my family and friends that I have a blog.

This is very exciting for me as I have attempted to create a blog many times but haven't really got off the starting block. My problem has always been what to call it. I read somewhere that this is as difficult as naming your first born and although that for me wasn't so difficult as my son was named after his Grandad, the blog has been a different kettle of fish.

Anyhow the breakthrough came when I decided to go into business selling knitting wool and accessories. I was flicking through a magazine and hey presto the name Needlecraft leapt out at me. The corner came slightly later and has no relation to my premises being on a corner. They are a market stall but the name had a ring to it and I like it. Which is all that matters, don't you think?

I was totally surprised that the name was available as with all the creative blogs out there I would have thought that such a simple name would have been snapped up long ago. Little do I know. Anyway I was glad it hadn't or I wouldn't be writing this now.

OK, I'm going to go now. I don't want to over do it on my first post.

I'm going to do a spot of knitting now. I am half way through a baby jacket to show as a sample of the wool I sell. Unfortunately the pattern I have picked isn't as impressive as I would have hoped but hopefully when its done it will look better.

My friend has lent me the DVD Message in a Bottle. This is a real weepy apparently so wish me luck!
